Gila River Alternate Mile 20
Pretty burly miles through numerous river valleys and up along side mountains. The trail switched between forestry roads, 4x4 track, dried river beds, loosely cairned rock, pressed pine needles and new single track. This made navigation pretty time consuming as I often found my self stopping and squinting.
I was enjoying some salt and vinegar chips and lapping water at bear creek when two giant husky wolfs came out of no where and started splashing in the water. I was startled at first but then I saw their collars and friendly disposition. Their owner came by moments later on his ATV and told me all about their half wild wolf ways. Super friendly fellow. He motored off leaving the two wolf dogs circling me as I walked on. Eventually they ran off to catch up with him.
