In Nor Cal we passed through the beautiful State of Jefferson. The land is gorgeous. The people, friendly. The beer selection, ample.
There are rumblings of making the area it into a national monument. Signs in resistance to this sprinkle the landscape. The people of Jefferson have already been betrayed twice — which is why there are two x's on the state of Jeffersons flag.
DaVinci snaps up some fine brews at the local mart in Seiad Valley. We didn't care about miles anymore. We were more concerned about "winning." Winning the PCT didn't mean being first, being the fastest, being the lightest. We won everyday simply by having a good time. We packed out beer so we could enjoy a cold one at the end of the day. We took naps in the middle of the day. It was an ongoing, personal joke that confused the fast hikers that whizzed by us.
Grams didn't finish the pancake challenge but he was definitely winning. This slowed him down for a couple of days. Once he digested it all we didn't see him again.
The Flag of the State of Jefferson sports two X's — one for each betrayal. One by the state of Oregon, and one by the state of California. There is a spirit out here that Is best summarized by the photo above.
Climbing out of the valley was hot and waterless.
Good thing we packed out cold ones.
The distance of this water from the trail kept us from taking a dip and really winning.
DaVinci ... clearly winning.
We made it to the Oregon / California border!!! You can see my beard burst full of flowers on the Oregon side. Keeping it wierd.
